I collaborate with social impact organisations to help them leverage technology to provide meaningful digital engagements for their stakeholders. Regardless of the phase of the technical implementation – from conceptualising a design to updating an intricate legacy project – I’m able to move from high-level strategy to solution detail quickly; all while focussed on the needs of the user.

ABOUT

It’s human nature to assume we understand what’s causing an issue, and jump to conclusions about how to solve them without asking the right questions first.

5 wise is a play on words of “5 whys”, an iterative interrogative technique used to explore the cause-and-effect relationships underlying a particular problem.

Using 5 whys and other methods from my design thinking toolkit, I’m able to help understand and communicate different stakeholder needs, and translate these into technically feasible solutions.

EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS

I’m a passionate problem solver who uses service design thinking to find solutions to complex developing world problems. These are some of the projects I’ve worked on over the past few years.

  • Training on usability and paper prototype testing (with engineers, product owners and project managers)
  • Mapping TB and HIV patient journeys in the South African Public Health sector, through site visits and desk research
  • Designing a digital tool for tracking referrals of DS-TB patients
  • User Testing and Research for a Maternal Health App
  • Cognitive interviews with adolescent girls about gender based violence (GBV) and intimate partner violence (IPV)
  • Developed an implementation guide for a common data dictionary (CDD) for Malaria Elimination
